Medical assistants play an important role in healthcare services. This career will require you to help both doctors and patients. You will also be charged with the task of maintaining an organized and efficient medical office. Some general duties as a medical assistant will include: updating patient records, filing insurance forms, answering phones and scheduling appointments, arranging hospital admissions or lab procedures for patients, managing billing and bookkeeping. Most importantly, medical assistants also operate as a liaison between the physician and the patient. The Medical Assistant School Associate Degree program of EBI College may require additional tasks of their students. You may be authorized to refill prescriptions, prepare patients for X-rays, record vital signs, remove stitches, draw blood, change dressings, and also prepare and administer medications under a physician’s supervision.
